What makes Fahrmeier Bros. Produce a unique CSA:

In the true spirit of Community Supported Agriculture, the Fahrmeiers are beginning their partnership with the KCCSAC by setting aside specifically for their CSA part of their largely-conventional farm for organic and sustainable growing practices, and the KCCSAC is proud to support and encourage their efforts in this regard. Taking a step away from what their practice has been, in which they must work hard to prevent losing large plantings of crops for particular markets, the Fahrmeiers are willing to share the risk and rewards of organic food production with their CSA members, and begin their path toward more farming using such methods.

***Aside from the vegetables offered in their CSA shares, the Fahrmeiers are planning to make available to their CSA members various conventionally-grown vegetables grown on their farm. At all times, the growing methods (conventional or organic) for each vegetable/fruit/etc. will be shared with the CSA members so that they may make an educated food-purchasing decision.***

The Fahrmeiers will be creating newsletters as well as hosting a blog — see their website for information.

Although CSA members are not required to work at the farm, visitors and volunteers are welcome — please contact the Fahrmeiers to make arrangements. The farmers will also be hosting various events and festivals (including some relating to their on-farm vineyard); dates and details TBD.

The Fahrmeiers will be offering one apprenticeship position in 2010 through the Growing Growers program; contact Growing Growers and/or the Fahrmeiers for details.
